  • Day 1: ferry to Old Zeeland
    • 20/05/2017
Ganged up with some semi retired geordies coming off the ferry, each with a hand built bike, one with frame used in London Olympics and giro ditalia handlebars.
Do we need a sign saying Sorry, clueless tourists! As we wobble the wrong way into traffic. No, I think its obvious...
Bruges how I remember, charming but choked in tourists, at least in the central square mile.
Sudden hail storm out of this blue....
Relief how quickly you escape to beautiful countryside along tree lined canals... Really stunning. Could sit down here and learn to paint.
Irish women cycling to st. Petersburg, just retired and thought what the hell, lets have a go, never done a bike tour before.
They recommend warm showers, although they haven't used it themselves yet.

Can already identify the British tourers, by a) the full set of panniers, and b) the helmets, since the locals don't use them.
To be honest on day two I've given up with mine, since on cycle paths all day seems superfluous...

A brief rain shower causes me to shelter under a tree, where some friendly locals introduce me to "Snelle yelle" a stodgy cake thing with rocket fuel properties

New Zealand old Zeeland

Relecutantly bypassing fish and chips...

Long fast evening section to camp in woods
Computer terminal at campsite doesn't accept my cards, so free night.
